I recently had an awesome opportunity to sample and learn about German Grape Varieties & Wine Styles. I learned about Riesling, which is native to Germany and planted across all thirteen regions.
What I enjoyed learning about was the types of food to pair with your Riesling. Lightly-spiced dishes, nuts, such as pecans and almonds. Soft cheeses such as brie, and spicy foods such as Asian food, and desserts. I had fun with desserts. My suggestion is: strawberry shortcake, angel food cake, blackberry cobbler, raspberry parfait. For main dishes, I would pair it with dover sole with lemon and capers, tilapia, and a basic chicken dish with lemon and capers as well.
I also learned about red grapes and a special red sweet wine called Dornfelder. Dornfelder would be awesome with a chocolate torte and chicken with mushroom and capers.
