How To Make An Audio Book With Audibles, by, Gina Meyers

As a marketer, author, and entrepreneur at heart, I always like looking for ways to turn my side hustle into some awesome passive money.

My experience thus far with Audibles, an Amazon Product has been both challenging and rewarding.

This is the first in a series of How To's.

If you are looking for financial growth potential, then look no further than audio books. Digital audiobooks continue to be the fastest growing publishing segment with last years' sales increasing the market share by 16% in the United States alone, generating over $1.2 billion dollars in revenue. 2018 produced over $940 million and increased revenue by 25% over 2017.

If I haven't convinced you to follow the money trail yet, then here is a pie graph and statistics for those visual people out there.

Over the past three months, I have produced over fifty of my book(s) into narrated Audibles. I have entered into over 60 + contract negotiations with narrators.

Here are a few basic steps to get you started on the road to financial success with Audibles.

Step #1:

You need to be a published author.

Self-published or published by someone else. If a publishing house has produced your book, check with them about your rights to produce an Audio book and if you will need to share a percentage of your royalties. If you have self-published your book, and you haven't used a consultant or a publishing company, then you can proceed with turning your book into an Audible.

Step #2:

Decide how much you want to make and keep in royalties. With Audibles, you can pay the narrator a one-time royalty or price per hour for your Audible.

Step #3:

Set up an Audible Account.

Step #4:

Search for your book. Search for your book using your name (as it appears on Amazon and the full title of your book). You then will be directed to a section

Step #5:

Research narrators and find the perfect voice for your book.

Step #6:

Write an audition script and get every detail of your book listed on the Audible system to make your book intriguing and interesting to the narrator.

Many people have to seek out narrators to work with. I've been very fortunate. Dozens of narrators have auditioned for my books, as I have marketed them well and they already have the polished looked and the Amazon reviews,

*When you post your JOB to Audibles, make sure your book has an appealing curb appeal to it. I will show you how in an upcoming blog.

You will need to either hire a graphic designer or learn to redo your cover art according to the very specific directions and dimensions of Audible. There are many helpful design programs if you aren't a book designer afficianto, I've used and found Canva to be very helpful. Use my code for a FREE trial.

Step #7:

Seek advice. Ask a friend or a fellow author for their input. You can even hire a consultant to help you. I charge $40.00 per hour and will answer any of your questions, thank you.
